The identifier is a simple device, resembling a credit card, whose use requires no special training. To ascertain the product’s authenticity, a customer should bring the identifier to the product and a latent image will become visible.

The identifier’s shape, color and other parameters can be changed to meet customer requirements. The identifier can bear logotypes, application instructions, telephone numbers and other information. Thus, a custom-built identifier can be used as a promotional tool or a discount or club card. 

Any attempts by manufacturers to combat fakes are held back by the need to use expensive high-tech equipment to verify the product’s authenticity. Such equipment cannot obviously be installed at every retail outlet. The identifier addresses this drawback as it is efficient, cheap and easy to use. Not only every retail outlet, but also every customer can be provided with an identifier.

Thus identifiers are a cost-efficient way for a consumer or a manufacture to distinguish original products from counterfeited ones.
